I made a promise recently to try and start sharing more of the “during” process and less waiting around for things to be absolutely finished, completed and perfect before writing up a post about it. So, I’m trying to keep my promises and wanted to share our latest purchase!Read More
I officially understand the meaning of "good things take time." This bathroom took months from start to finish but the end result was worth all the time and money spent to create it and it might be my new favorite space in the house.
I went back and forth a lot with this room design wise and my vision for it was pretty unclear. Sometimes I think I fall too deep into the Pinterest world and feel my heart tugging in several different directions. I sampled dark green paints, black paints; played with the idea of doing it entirely shiplap but painted a fun color; all without feeling settled or content with any of them.
Then I saw the wallpaper.Read More
Assuming that you’re bouncing over from our Master Bathroom post, we are just going to get right into the good stuff! However if you’re not, welcome! And be sure to check out this bathrooms entire renovation at the end!Read More
Something about exterior work seems to take double the time of interior. We’re approaching 2.5 years in our home and I feel like the outside is FINALLY beginning to match the inside. I always felt the need before when inviting people over for the first time to say “the inside looks better I promise..” as we’re greeting them on the porch. It’s a nice feeling to have the front yard be as welcoming as our entry or kitchen and also makes for great morning coffee drinking and relaxing.Read More
If you’ve been following our journey for a while now you have probably picked up on the fact that we really really love our pups. So when The Farmer’s Dog reached out to us about healthy, REAL, fresh food delivered to our door we were immediately interested.Read More
YES IT CAN BE DONE.
Just for starters and transparency, this was not a DIY. It was a big job, in the middle of summer and took 2 weeks to finish with someone hired out to be here everyday. It would have taken Bobby and I months to complete this on weekends, so we contracted out.Read More
One of my favorite presents this year was my brand new beautiful Smeg Coffee Maker from my husband. I’ve been looking at Smeg products for years now and finally decided to add one to my list. Coffee is a huge part of my life and I promise I’m not just exaggerating. I was basically raised a Gilmore Girl, I average 4-8 cups a day and I decided it was time for an upgrade.Read More
It’s somehow that time again y’all. I feel like we just did our Christmas Tour post from last year (spoiler alert, this one is going to look a lot different). This year has flown by faster than any other in my life but regardless we are always so excited to greet the holidays and dive in to decorating, baking and holiday fun.Read More
Magnolia trees are one of my favorites in existence. They’ve always seemed special to me, serving as backdrops in some of our favorite wedding photos and we actually got married surrounded by them. I was pretty thrilled when we found this home and it had several established ones on the property. Ever since, this has become one of our Christmas decor staples. It’s quick, affordable, easy and gorgeous. We do them indoors and out because I can’t get enough of it. I promise this will be short, sweet and painless!Read More
Our recent post about the progress and changes made to our living room was very well received so naturally next I thought we would head into the kitchen and show y’all what’s been happening in there.
Very similar to our living room: adding warmth, switching up the cold hues to warm, more contrasting rugs, deeper woods and some mid century modern furniture.Read More
Every single year I wait and wait and wait some more for September - December.
Fall is the beginning to my absolute favorite time of every year. Life is better, crisper, cozier, Hocus Pocus is on TV pretty much every night. I’m in a constant rotation of cooking chilli and pumpkin bread. It’s just fantastic.Read More
Since our last living room post there have been quite a few changes around here so it felt like time for a refreshed post on where the room is currently at and how we got there.
I had a bit of a design identity crisis the first few months of this year and fell very deep into a creative rut. Suddenly everything in our home didn’t feel quite right…Read More
I'm constantly sharing on Instagram how we build our shelves, what stain we use, where I buy my brackets etc.. I've also included a small how to in our Heart of the Home post but I thought the shelving deserved a dedicated post itself.Read More
After the kitchen, the next most important room in our home was the living room. We moved into this house with hunter green carpets, burgundy and pink floral accents and a lot of dark wood. Also, contractor color walls, one of my biggest pet peeves.Read More
The kitchen was first and foremost for us in this house. It’s where the coffee is made, it’s where we prep and eat meals, it’s where company gathers, it’s just the most important.
The first two are pictures from the real estate listing and honestly I think they're too forgiving. It's amazing how a wide angle lens and good lighting can make something appear. Our new home had fabulous green counter-tops, vinyl flooring, the cabinets were a cheap plastic and were buckling and falling apart, and sort of a yellow tone.. and that bulkhead.Read More
